We're here for you – World Cancer Day

Monday 01 February 2021

On this World Cancer Day, we want you to know that whatever comes your way, we’re always here with you.

To mark World Cancer Day 2021, Dame Laura Lee, our CEO, shares this short film as a reminder that we’re always here for you, whenever you need us.

We know that the past year has been a particularly difficult and worrying time for people with cancer and their families and friends.

The pandemic has meant delayed or cancelled treatments, late diagnosis, the difficulty of having to shield and the loneliness and anxiety that comes with it.

A message of support from our President, HRH The Duchess of Cornwall

As the proud President of Maggie’s, I wanted to mark World Cancer Day by sending my very best wishes to all those who are living with cancer at this extremely challenging time. You are very much in my thoughts and prayers today. I should also like to thank, from the bottom of my heart, those who are working to create a future without cancer. You give us hope that, together, we will be able to defeat this devastating disease.

How we’re supporting you

We’ve changed the way we offer support so we can be there, even if you can’t come in to a Maggie’s centre.

In the last year, we’ve been able to support people 239,000 times.

  • Moved our expert support online, by email and phone
  • Opened centres for families so they could spend quality time during lockdown
  • Offered face-to-face appointments when possible.
