Join us for this exciting challenge in the Pentland Hills, and support people with cancer.
Date: 30 August 2025
Where: Pentland Hills Regional Park, near Edinburgh
Registration Fee: £25
Sponsorship target: £150 - £250 depending on distance
Explore the beautiful Scottish countryside on this incredible hike with Maggie’s. Set within the scenic Pentland Hills Regional Park, you’ll experience breath-taking views across the peaks, moorlands, woodlands and reservoirs.
With 10 peaks on the 17 mile route, this hike is no mean feat! Easily accessible from Edinburgh city centre and the central belt. Escape to the wild and challenge yourself.
Your vital steps could help families find their feet after cancer has turned their worlds upside down.
Choose from 7 or 17 miles – both are circular routes starting and ending at Threipmuir Reservoir Car Park
Please note that this is a fairly challenging event, and to take part you will need to have a good level of fitness. Some training is advised, and we’ll provide plans and information to help with that.
We expect the 17 mile route to take around 10-12 hours, and the 7 mile route to take 5-6 hours to complete, including breaks.
This event is for over 18s only.
When cancer turns life upside down, Maggie’s is here. All our expert support is free to anyone with cancer and their family and friends.
By joining us on the Pentland Hills challenge, you are helping us to ensure people with cancer get the support they need.
£150 can pay for one of our Getting Started sessions for up to 10 centre visitors, helping to support with thoughts, emotions and worries before, during and after any cancer treatment.
£250 could help pay for a six-week bereavement course, led by our psychologists to support our centre visitors to dealing with loss; helping to find a way to start moving forward.
