The trail will showcase giant Scottie dogs around the city of Glasgow, designed and decorated by local artists.
The launch event on Wednesday 18 June featured the first Scottie dog leading the pack – ‘Lochie’ – designed by Glasgow artist Douglas Roulston.
In announcing the upcoming art trail, Maggie's is calling out to corporate sponsors and local artists to get involved – all in support of the cancer charity.
The trail will link up the pack of 50 beautifully designed giant Scottie dogs in the city of Glasgow and surrounding suburbs for eight weeks over the summer of 2026.
Following the installation, the Scotties will be auctioned to raise funds for Maggie’s centres across Scotland.
Project Manager for ‘Scotties in the City’, Hayley Smith said: “It’s hoped that this fun art trail will play a key role in boosting the city’s social, cultural and economic development, drawing in visitors to experience the charm of our city.
“Today's launch of Scotties in the City, in partnership with Wild in Art and with the help of our first, Loch Lomond-themed Scottie ‘Lochie’, is to put a call out to artists and sponsors, exactly one year before the trail goes live, to get behind this project.
“Alongside the trail, we will be running an educational programme whereby 60 schools can apply for their own small Scottie to design and decorate, complete with a resources and lessons pack. These smaller sculptures will also form part of the art trail and will be grouped together on display in cultural and educational spaces. The small Scotties will eventually be returned to the proud school owners to keep.

“At the closing of the trail, we will host an evening to auction off our beautiful, giant Scotties, with the aim of raising as much money for Maggie’s as possible.
Hayley adds: “We know people have travelled far and wide to see art trails like this before, and many famous faces have bought giant sculptures from Wild In Art charity auctions in the past. Celebrities including Lorraine Kelly have got involved, and tennis ace Judy Murray even bought a giant ‘Andy Murray / Wimbledon-inspired’ penguin from a Wild In Art trail in Dundee! We will look forward to hearing from businesses and individuals interested in bidding for a Scottish when it comes to auction time.
“Today’s launch is a call out for businesses to get involved in sponsoring a giant Scottie sculpture, and a call out for artists to take part.”
