The announcement comes after the Glastonbury star supported Maggie's with the launch of his new single.
The heartfelt track, 3rd Time Lucky, is about his mum’s experience of cancer. Mentioning the charity is AJ Tracey’s way of thanking Maggie’s for the support.
Following the release of the rest of the album, Don’t Die Before You're Dead, AJ has supported Maggie's even further by becoming an ambassador.
AJ Tracey said: “My Mum had to fight cancer and that was really difficult, but I know how much Maggie’s helped her.
I am so proud to announce that I am now an ambassador for Maggie’s, and I hope to raise awareness of the amazing support they give.
“Maggie's has 24 centres across the UK, and I am here to encourage anyone living with cancer, or helping someone who is living with cancer, to go and see them.”
Maggie’s offers free expert support to people with cancer and their friends and family. Expert staff can help with anything from stress and anxiety to treatment questions and money worries.
Dame Laura Lee DBE, Chief Executive at Maggie’s, said: “We are so grateful to AJ for agreeing to become a Maggie’s ambassador.
“I greatly look forward to working with AJ, and I know he will help us reach a younger audience, particularly those who might also have a parent with cancer and don’t know where to turn for support.”
The single 3rd Time Lucky is available now, and £1 from every purchase of the CD + keyring bundle will be donated to Maggie's. You can buy the bundle via ajtracey.co.uk
