Watch and wait (active surveillance)

'Watch and wait' or 'active surveillance' is a treatment option that may be used for cancer.

Find out what it is and how Maggie's can help.

What is watch and wait (active surveillance)?

You may be told that your cancer does not need to be treated immediately or may never need treatment. For example, some blood cancers, and low-grade prostate cancers.

You will still have regular check-ups, blood tests and monitoring to see if there have been any changes – this is called 'watch and wait' or 'active surveillance'.

If changes are found then treatment options will be discussed with you.
